Info about beer cellar cooling & cooler temperatures

Temperatures needed in your pub cellar

Licensed to Chill

Real Ales

11C - 13C for traditional Cask Ales recommend holding temperature. Takes 48 hours to cool a cask and about 24 hours to warm back up with system failure!

Lagers

8C - 12C for the usual barrels flowing through a flash cooler (Python cooler)

Wines

8C - 15C for most wines although subjective!

Lighter drinks cooler than dark ones.

General installation details 1

For most systems the shorter the pipe work route the more energy efficient it will be, we quote for 9m interconnecting pipe work, any longer and we need to know when quoting. Maximum height of the outdoor condensing unit is 2m from floor/ground level. Above ground cellars may require the next size system. Removal of the old system depends on weight and physical size. All orders are taken on the above details and photos of cellar, outdoor location and awkward pipe runs must accompany the order.

General installation details 2

So to recap....When placing an order or asking for an official quote, we need..

1. Length, width and height of the cellar.

2. Above or below ground cellar?

3. Tell us the location of the current outdoor condensing unit?

4. Photos showing 1. the cellar, 2. the outdoor unit location and 3. any rooms pipes may run through.

5. Anything else we should know such as parking arrangements. If in doubt please ask or tell us, we want your new cellar installation to run smoothly too!

We always quote for a cellar cooler based upon 27C ambient in below ground cellar maintaining 12C as recommended by brewers, colder is often a waste of your energy.
